ABOUT US

PROJEKT 26 is a leading dealer of vintage Polish posters from the Soviet era. A specific style of graphic design flourished at this time due to state restrictions, which came to be known as the Polish School of Posters, and we source and reproduce some of the rarest and most beautiful examples of this art form. Based in London, UK, we have a large global following and ship our products all over the world.

We source and sell original mid-century posters and magazines from suppliers in Poland and all over the world. In addition to that, we partner with artists and their families to reproduce much-loved works, using printing methods and paper that are true to the original editions.

Because of our passion for the Polish Poster School and our contacts with artists, estates and suppliers, we have been working to uncover the stories behind this movement, and to highlight the contributions of women and other undersung members of the community. We are working on a forthcoming documentary on the topic, publish informational newsletters on a regular basis, and have assisted the V&A in curating a display in their original South Kensington location.

Since 2019, we have been running regular markets close to our base in South London to connect our local community of vintage poster dealers with fans of art and design. We have also collaborated with folk art curators and jewelry designers to create a series of interiors pop-ups showcasing Polish design called Polski Sklep. We are always eager to create new connections in the overlapping worlds of design, Eastern European history and vintage poster art, do get in touch if you’d like to chat.

MEET THE FOUNDER

PROJEKT 26 was founded by Sylwia Newman and Harriet Williams in 2019 after discovering their shared love of vintage Polish posters. The business now operates with Sylwia at the helm, who revisits Poland several times a year to look through artists’s archives and establish connections with Polish collectors, historians and graphic designers.

Sylwia grew up in Poland but has lived in the UK for over two decades. Her love for the Polish School of Posters sprang up from a desire to inject elements of her Polish heritage into her life in the UK. What started as a passion project has developed into a leading business. It’s important to her to preserve original artwork, to protect and celebrate Poland’s underappreciated Polish design heritage, and as a protest against quick-fix consumerism.
